My apprenticeship journey at SW&P Accountancy.

Hi, I’m Izzy!

I’ve been working at SW&P for just over two years now. In September 2022 I began my journey as an apprentice. I started my career straight from school at the age of 18, having completed my A-Levels but with no prior accountancy experience or knowledge. The first few months were a minefield of constant learning and asking questions to my colleagues and managers but now, over two years on, I complete multiple VAT returns each month, prepare limited company accounts and complete many payrolls.

In January 2023 I began my first accountancy qualification at First Intuition in Leeds, completing the AAT Level 3 Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship. The four months I spent at SW&P before starting college gave me the best head start to my qualification. Lots of the modules in my Level 3 covered areas I had been exposed to already back in the office, and this prior experience really has been invaluable to my development.

In March 2024 I sat my final Level 3 exam, achieving the Diploma in Accounting. I have now moved on to the AAT Level 4 Professional Accounting Technician Apprenticeship, with my first exam results due at the end of October!
